Who pays for the ChemoFx® test?
The test is covered by Medicare and has been reimbursed by more than 450 commercial insurance companies. Precision Therapeutics submits claims on behalf of the patient to the patient’s health plan. Patients with commercial insurance will be responsible for applicable co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance as required by their policy. If the insurance company does not pay for the ChemoFx® test, will Precision Therapeutics
bill the patient?
Precision Therapeutics bills Medicare directly and does not bill Medicare beneficiaries or Medicare HMO/PPO plan members. If Medicare does not reimburse the cost, Precision Therapeutics will appeal the denial.bill the patient?
Precision Therapeutics will act on behalf of the patient by pursuing the claim through all levels of appeal. In certain cases, the insurance company may require the patient to sign a Release Form stating that the patient allows Patient Advocates from Precision to appeal any denial on their behalf. If a signed form is necessary, Precision will contact the patient to obtain the form so that we may continue to work towards resolving the claim with their insurance company. Patients will be responsible for co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles as required by their policy. However, patients may be eligible for Precision’s Compassionate Care Program depending on their individual situation (please refer your patient to a Precision Therapeutics Patient Advocate for further details).
