Endometrial Cancer
Endometrial cancer begins in the endometrium, which is the inner lining of the uterus. About 80% of endometrial cancers are adenocarcinomas and begin in the cells that make and release mucus and other fluids. Other rarer types of endometrial cancer include clear-cell carcinoma, serous carcinoma and poorly differentiated carcinoma.
Endometrial Cancer Treatment Options
Endometrial cancer treatment options depend on the type and stage of endometrial cancer and include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy and hormone therapy. Surgery is the main treatment choice for endometrial cancer but sometimes a combination of treatments is used. Chemotherapy is often used when the cancer has spread beyond the endometrium.
